The Link Gun alt fire can be used to create a link chain or a link cluster by linking other players. Linking is useful on higher waves and of course on Lucifer Wave (Wave 16). It is better to let a high level player shoot (with max Damage Bonus and Max Weapon Speed) while other low level players link to him. Using a Link Gun of infinity or having a medic gun of infinity is pretty much essential for linking, unless you have 500+ Ammo Bonus. The experience earned by the player who’s been linked is equally shared with his linkers. There is 2 ways to links:

1. Link Chain

The link chain can be achieved when players link to each others while the first player in the chain is the one shooting. A link chain while be more powerful for the shooter, meaning he will perform more damage compared to the link cluster. However, the experience is not equally shared among the linkers by doing this, meaning the first linker gets more experience then the last linker in the chain.

2. Link Cluster

The link cluster can be achieved when all players link to the player who is shooting. A link cluster is less powerful for the shooter in comparison to the link chain (for the same amount of player), meaning he will perform less damage. However, the experience is equally shared among the linkers by doing this, meaning all the linkers get the same amount of experience.
