Copying Weapons

Page history last edited by FrankyTheFly 7 months, 3 weeks ago

In the UT RPG Invasion, it is possible to copy some weapons and share them with other players. Any weapon without the asterisk symbol (*) at the end of the name means it can be copied. Modifiers like EnergyProtection and Piercing can be copied. A weapon is copied on touch, meaning if you drop it, youll always get it back at the weapon locker or at the weapons spawn. You can either receive or give a copy.

Steps for receiving a copy from another player:

1)  Drop your current weapon

2)  Receive the weapon from the player

3)  Toss the weapon back to the player

4)  Go to the weapons locker or weapons spawn to get the copy

Steps for giving a copy to another player:

1)  Wait for the player to toss away his weapon

2)  Give the weapon to the player

3)  Wait for the player to give you your weapon back

* If you decide to let the other player keep the weapon, go to the weapons locker or weapons spawn to get it back

Keep in mind that if your previous weapon was plain or had a modifier that could be copied, then after you receive another copy you will get the old weapon first by touching the spawn or weapons locker before getting the copy. In fact, you can accumulate up to 5 modifiers that can be copied in the memory slot by doing this. Using the Magic Weapon Maker or dying will erase the memory slot, be aware of this.

The best example is as follow:

Your previous Link Gun modifier was Lucky, you dropped it and then took another Link Gun that have a Protection modifier. Later, you ask a player to give you a copy of his Energy Link Gun. The player toss you a his Link Gun witch you immediately give back to him. If you haven’t used the Magic Weapon Maker on this weapon slot yet or haven’t died, you have now 3 modifiers in the System Memory for this weapon slot. So When you hit the weapons spawn or the locker, you will receive modifiers in this order: Lucky-->Protection-->Energy.

Another example:

You have a plain or copyable weapon. You drop it and you took it again. You repeat this process 3 times. The result is you have now 3 times the same modifier into the system memory. You then copy a weapon from a player, let's say... Piercing. So When you hit the weapons spawn or the locker, you will receive 3 times the same modifier corresponding to the modifier of the weapon you dropped and took 3 times before getting your copy, which correspond to Piercing.

Note:

For some reason it seem some players think "shooting" with the weapon they received when they copy will actually influence or enhance the chance for the copy to work (Seriously... WTF!?). Let's make it clear, this is a total Urban Legend. Whoever start spreading this rumor must have smoke his kitchen carpet or live in dream land. Shooting your weapon when you copy is nothing else then a big waste of time. I will repeat what I said earlier, a weapon is copied on touch, you don't need to shoot, pick your nose, scratch your ears or dance the lambada for it to work!
