Flak Canon

Page history last edited by FrankyTheFly 6 months, 2 weeks ago

The Flak Canon ionized flechettes are capable of delivering second and third-degree burns to organic tissue, cauterizing the wound instantly. Payload delivery is achieved via one of two methods: ionized flechettes launched in a spread pattern directly from the barrel; or via fragmentation grenades that explode on impact, radiating flechettes in all directions.

The primary fire shoots a bunch of ionized flechettes in a spread pattern that deal average amount of damage. The range of those flechettes is limited to close range target and the rate of fire is relatively low. Since there is a spread pattern, the primary fire is good for those who just like to 'fire and forget'. The flechettes are capable of bouncing off walls, too, making the Flak Cannon suitable for that Monster hiding around the corner.

The secondary fire shoots a fragmentation grenade that explodes on impact and releases ionized flechettes in all directions. Also known has a "Flak Ball", this attack can deal a high amount of damage on a direct hit. Be aware that, unlike the primary fire of the Flak Cannon, Flak Balls are affected by gravity, and is not suitable for long-range targets.

Trivia

The Flak Cannon's primary fire is just the secondary fire, but instead of launching the Flak Ball, the Flak Cannon detonates the Flak Ball inside the Cannon, then launches the remaining flechettes at the intended target. This would explain why the 'heavy' side of this weapon uses the same amount of ammunition as its 'light' side, unlike the Link Gun.
